JULY 2020: Summer, Historic Events,Vaccines & Achievements

The summer season has officially started! The weather is nice, the BBQ action is back in full swing and the days are longer.  From the death of Alexander, the Great to the fall of the Bastille at the beginning of the French Revolution, the month of July highlights notable Historic events!

One of the most important days for the United States is Independence Day, which falls on July 4trh each year.  This day is a day that the U.S. honors its independence from England in 1776 and is designed as a great big celebration and party.   Unfortunately, with the pandemic, people have not been able to get together in large groups to celebrate, but celebrate they did with small gatherings of friends and  familyand watching fireworks, eating yummy foods and many went virtual through on-line streaming and web casts .

July is an important historical month for America.President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race in public accommodations.  In 1969,Apollo 11 Astronaut Neil Armstrong took his first step onto the moon, stating “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” that will be forever be remembered. Finally, for very recent history, the U.S. the UK and France suspended the Extradition Treaty with Hong Kong Over Security Law,which gives China broad powers to crack down on political crimes in the territory.

On the Covid front, the U.S statistically is among the most infected countries in the world, but much recent progress has been made and things are going in a better direction.  There also seems to be more positive scientist news as findings are very promising over a new vaccine. In Oxford, in the U.S.and other places in the world such as Israel a vaccine appears to be in the horizon that appears to be safe and effusive and triggers an immune response producing antibodies and T-cells that can fight the COVID-19.Let us have faith and believe in the scientist’s progress to stop this Virus soon!
