On November 23, was Thanksgiving; a day to give thanks for what you have and is usually celebrated by friends and family getting together to share a special meal, parades and other festivities. This federal holiday is celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday in November. The day after Thanksgiving, is Black Friday in the United States. A busy shopping day as stores lower prices and have special offers for the weekend long event, which coincides with Cyber Monday (the Monday after Black Friday). Some interesting historical tidbits that occurred in November are: Peter I was proclaimed Emperor of all of the Russia’s on November 2, 1721, on November 9, 1918 German Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicated the throne in the end days of WWI and fled to Holland, President Harry S. Truman was the target of an unsuccessful assassination attempt by two members of a Puerto Rican nationalist movement on November 1, 1950 and also on November 1 in 1993, the European Union came into existence as a result of the Maastricht Treaty.

South African golfer Gary Player celebrates his birthday on November 1, American pioneer & explorer Daniel Boone was born on November 2 in 1734, John Philip Sousa; an American composer and conductor celebrated his birthday on November 6, Danny DeVito enjoys his birthday on November 17, on November 18, 1968, American actor Owen Wilson was born and Scarlett Johansson’s birthday is on November 22… Happy birthday to all of you who celebrate your birthday in November! Interesting Interpreting & Translation Projects Completed in November
We recently completed an interpreting project for Johnson & Johnson Institute; an American medical devices and pharmaceutical manufacturing company in the United States. The job was a scientific advisory board meeting in California and had a 2-day time span. American Language Services were able to provide Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish interpreters for the meeting, along with equipment including several sound reduction booths, portable headsets and receivers and on-site technicians. With our exceptional interpreters, the meeting was a complete success.
Another very interesting interpreting project that AML-Global was able to fill was for OPUS Agency, amongst many other interpreting projects throughout the month. For this particular project Korean, Mandarin and Japanese interpreters were needed along with large amounts of equipment including numerous fully encapsulated booths, about 50 transmitters, over 600 portable headsets and receivers and on-site technical support. This grand conference went flawlessly and the client was thrilled with the results.
Throughout November we have had countless translation projects, including Grason-Stadler; a world leader in audiometric equipment. For this project, Grason-Stadler needed a GSI user manual to be translated from English into 9 different languages; Spanish, European Portuguese, European French, German, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Italian, Japanese and Turkish. Our high quality professional translators did an outstanding job and the project was faultless. Over the years, we have also completed translations for Grason-Stadler from English into Danish, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Swedish and other langauges.
Subtitling Project
For the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, American Language Services were able to subtitle hours of a documentary from English audio into English text and English audio into Vietnamese text. With an expedited deadline, this job was turned around quickly and impeccably.
