Key Partnerships with Education, Government, Military, NGO’s, Educational Providers
Most people do not consider the great impact and contribution that the educational industry has provided to our society throughout many decades. We often take for granted the day to day impact this dynamic industry has made on our lives. Things like the internet itself, smart phones & smart technology, mass transportation, electric vehicles, alternative energy sources like wind & solar, satellites, space exploration, seat belts and airbags, cancer drugs, and microwave ovens, to name just a small handful.
What the educational industry has contributed is no less than remarkable. Some of things they have accomplished has been completed as a single educational organization, in-house, where they have taken academic ideas, have done research, offered creative solutions and have come up with amazing breakthroughs. However, most of what has been accomplished has been working together as a team with various other entities. These entities include the United States Government & Military, Non-Government Organizations, (NGO’s), Non-Profits, and other Educational Providers and Consultants who work closely in combination with each other.
It has been a partnership of great success and truly a team effort. This team effort involves identifying a specific need to solve an important problem, developing a plan, timelines for completion, formalizing budgets, obtaining funds to finance the project and ultimately finding solutions to help society as a whole. As a major provider of language services to the education industry we are proud to contribute to its overall success and to work with this great team that makes up the industry.
Translation of Documents for the Educational Market
We are often asked to translate documents that involve a wide variety of topics including, grants, studies, proposals, academic thesis, research, published findings, academic progress reports, admissions forms, announcements, class schedules, financial aid documents, individualized education plans (IEP’s), immigration forms, student transcripts, medical evaluations, newsletters, permission slip, process papers, psychological tests, report cards, scholarship applications, special education requests, standardized tests and transcript request forms.
Another area of translation involves transcriptions of audio and video files. When these files are put in writing, they need to be transcribed and then translated. They may be transcribed only to the source language or transcribed and then translated to a specific target language or multiple languages.
We work with academia in 150+ languages in total. Of these languages the top requests are for Spanish, EU French, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified & Traditional Chinese.
Interpreting for Non-English Speaking, Hearing Impaired and the Deaf
We work with a wide variety of projects in a multitude of languages. We provide interpreting services both On-Site and, much more often now, virtually through VRI (Because of Covid). In the recent past, much more work was done on-site, but since the pandemic has hit, temporarily, almost everything is now handled virtually though a variety of virtual platforms, the most significant being Zoom.
These assignments are for a plethora of needs such as for conferences, symposiums, workshops, classroom settings, interviews, debates, academic meetings, Individual Educational Plans (IEP’s), disciplinary meetings, academic contests, speakers, dinners, and focus groups.
We work with academia in 150+ languages in total. Of these languages the top requests are for American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese EU French, Canadian French, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, German, Armenian, Russian, Hebrew, Turkish, Arabic, Korean, and Japanese.
A quick word about American Sign Language (ASL) and Closed Captioning (CART). By far, ASL is the fastest growing language in the educational sector. In fact, ASL is now the number one requested language surpassing Spanish for that distinction. As part of the American Disabilities Act, ASL is a requirement that academia must provide to their student and employee population. This gives deaf and hard of hearing students, as well as employees, equal access to the information being taught, and instructions and training explained.
CART is also known as Real Time Subtitling & Closed Captioning. Students who do not know ASL or who have a long-range visual impairment request CART as an alternative to ASL. CART is typically handled remotely and is usually done directly on the laptop of the student and has consistently proved to be an effective learning tool.
Media Services Becoming the New Norm in the Education Sector
The educational world for many years has been pushing the envelope to find more interesting, diverse, and effective learning tools for their students. This does not replace their traditional tools but has been proven to be a very effective enhancement.
Since the Covid Pandemic has hit, the use of Voiceovers, Dubbing and Subtitling has been greatly increased at a blistering pace. We work on projects like Webinars, PowerPoint Presentations, Academic Speeches, On-line learning portals, and Research Studies to name some.
Similar to Translations & Interpreting, we offer 150+ languages in total for this emerging area. Of these languages the top requests are for American Sign Language (ASL), Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese EU French, Canadian French, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, German, Armenian, Russian, Hebrew, Turkish, Arabic, Korean, and Japanese.
