It’s hard to believe that the Holidays are upon us and New Year’s is right around the corner. It’s amazing how fast things went in 2014 and that the year is almost over. American Language Services wants to wish each of you a Happy Holiday and happy and safe New Year’s coming up. Whatever Holiday you celebrate, whether it is Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, or even if you don’t celebrate the holidays, we hope that you were able to get some time off, have fun with your friends and family, and celebrate life.
This year, for our company party, we did something somewhat unusual. We hired a Limo bus which drove us to Marina Del Rey, where we leased a yacht in the Marina. We had a great time with each other, with a wonderful setting and scrumptious lunch and appetizers.
Even though there are a lot of extra activities in December, business goes on as usual. December business, for us, was very brisk. Following are some examples of what we completed, we did an interesting voice-over project for the company JumpSport, who specializes in the exercise industry. They produce very entertaining videos using techniques for trampolines. We translated scripts for them into Simplified Chinese and then did voice-overs for an instructional video for them in Mandarin.
We completed a 4-day CART project for the IRGO Expo in Las Vegas. We supplied CART services in which AML-Global CART providers typed out in real-time onto a screen so the deaf people in the audience could understand what was said.
One of our regular clients, Warner Brothers Entertainment, had a rush project where we translated a Chinese real estate contract within 24 hours so that they can meet a hard deadline to finalize a deal with their Chinese clients.
Another interesting job we did in December was for the Hispanic Group. The Hispanic Group is a marketing company that specializes in ultra-segmentation by using many demographic and ethnic parameters. We provided linguists in 8 languages, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and others, so they could complete a market research project involving casting.
