Denmark as a Global Tourist Destination and Example of Green Energy Usage Don’t Forget the Danish Pancakes

Danish is one of the North Germanic languages as is spoken by around six million people, mainly n Denmark but also in Germany in small minorities. Denmark is a huge tourist destination for it’s food, music and tradition. Historically, Denmark, like its Scandinavian neighbors, has been one of the most socially progressive cultures in the world. For example, in 1969, Denmark was the first country to legalize pornography and it sets an example for the rest of the world with its large-scale conversion to green energy. To encourage investment in wind power, families were offered a tax exemption for generating their own electricity within their own or an adjoining commune. While this could involve purchasing a turbine outright, more often families purchased shares in wind turbine cooperatives that in turn invested in community wind turbines. By 2004 over 150,000 Danes were either members of cooperatives or owned turbines, and about 5,500 turbines had been installed, although with greater private sector involvement the proportion owned by cooperatives had fallen to 75%. Wind turbines produce 16-19% of electricity demand. The capital, Copenhagen, and its multiple outlying islands have a wide range of folk traditions. The Royal Danish Orchestra is among the world’s oldest orchestras. Carl Nielsen, with his six imposing symphonies, was the first Danish composer to gain international recognition, while an extensive recording industry has produced pop stars and a host of performers from a multitude of genres. Last, but certainly not least, is Danish food. Traditional Danish food includes frikadeller (fried meatballs, often served with potatoes and various sorts of gravy), (breaded and fried minced meat), steaks and so on, usually eaten with potatoes. If you want to treat yourself to something really special try some Danish pancakes and thank us later.

A Brief History of Danish

Danish, together with Swedish, derives from the East Norse dialect group, while Norwegian is classified as a West Norse language together with Faroese and Icelandic. A more recent classification based on mutual intelligibility separates modern spoken Danish, Norwegian and Swedish into a Mainland Scandinavian group while Icelandic and Faroese are placed in a separate category labeled Insular Scandinavian.

Written Danish and Its Similarities to Norwegian Bokmal

Written Danish and Norwegian Bokml are particularly close, though the phonology. Proficient speakers of any of the three languages can understand the others, though studies have shown that speakers of Norwegian generally understand both Danish and Swedish far better than Swedes or Danes understand each other. Both Swedes and Danes also understand Norwegian better than they understand each other’s languages.
