This year Easter Sunday was on April 1 with Easter Monday on April 2. Easter time is very important and special in the Christian faith as it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion. It is often celebrated with children by decorating eggs and participating in Easter egg hunts supposed from the Easter bunny. For the Jewish faith in the United States, April 7 marked the last day of Passover which celebrates the deliverance of Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. Thomas Jefferson’s birthday is celebrated in the U.S. on April 13 and is an annual national legal observance.

Some interesting historical tidbits that occurred in April are: Congress established the first U.S. Mint at Philadelphia on April 2, 1792, In the American West, the Pony Express service began as the first rider departed St. Joseph, Missouri on April 3 in 1860, on April 12, 1861 the American Civil War began as Confederate troops under the command of General Pierre Beauregard opened fire on Fort Sumter in South Carolina and on April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee.

Interesting Interpreting & Translation Projects Completed in April
We recently completed an interpreting project for the California Energy Commission; California’s primary energy policy and planning agency. For a conference, Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese interpreters were required and AML-Global was able to provide excellent service and interpreters. Also, in the month of April, the California Energy Commission needed a staff assessment workshop document translate from English into Vietnamese, Korean and Spanish. Both the interpreting and the translation project went well.
At the beginning of April, we have already been very busy with translation, interpreting and transcription projects. A big translation project was completed for Airside Mobile, Inc.; a mobile passport app that makes travel experiences faster, better and easier. The instructions for the mobile passport needed to be translated from English into 11 different languages; Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, French, German, Korean, Arabic, Russian, Italian, Japanese and Portuguese. As always, our translators provided exceptional translations and the job was a success.
Another interesting translation project was completed for Acon Laboratories, Inc.; a company who provides a broad range of high quality and competitively priced medical diagnostic and healthcare products. A document needed to be translated from English into German, Italian, Finnish, Polish, Greek, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, Farsi and Indonesian. The project was completed on a tight deadline on an expedited basis and the job was flawless.

Since translations are not an exact science but more of a combination between the science of linguistics and art, which is a more subjective variable. It is important that our clients share information with us to better identify your goals and target audience. In terms of target audience, it is very helpful to know what specific audience you are trying to target so we may culturally adapt to that target audience. For example, which country, which region, what ethnic culture and what educational background. The more information our clients provide to us, the better job we can do in localizing the translations.
