Cinco de Mayo on May 5 is a huge festival celebrating the culture, experiences and heritage of Mexican people in America. One of the largest Cinco de Mayo celebrations is in Los Angeles, California where American Language Services head office is located. Mother’s Day is on May 14 this year, celebrating the role of mothers and those who are mother figures.

Some interesting historical tidbits that occurred in May: Great Britain was formed from a union between England and Scotland on May 1, 1707, on May 21, 1881 The American Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic on May 20, 1932, and on May 10 in 1994 Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the President of South Africa.

Interpreting Projects Completed in May
We recently completed a job for China Week; a nonprofit organization who aims to increase both understanding and access to China. This conference/event is held annually in May in the Los Angeles area. China Week is a great client of ours and we have provide them outstanding interpreting services for many years. Mandarin interpreters were needed for the conference with a full array of equipment including sound reduction booths, portable headsets and transmitters along with on-site technicians. The project was a huge success and we look forward to continuing to provide China Week with our outstanding interpreting services in the future.
Another interesting interpreting project completed in May was for Opus Agency who is a Global brand events & marketing agency and have been a client of ours for some years. ‘For a conference at the Aria in Las Vegas, Nevada, American Language Services were able to provide numerous Japanese, Mandarin and American Sign Language interpreters for the 2 day conference and supplied equipment including portable headsets and transmitters, sound reduction booths and onsite technical support. The project was a big success and our client appreciated the quality of the interpreting services we provided.
Interesting Translation Project Completed in May
Among the many projects we completed this month, we finalized a translation project for Acon Laboratories a company who provides high quality medical diagnostic and healthcare products in California. ‘The project involved translating a smart English manual and a blood glucose monitoring system into 3 different languages: European French, Swedish and Finnish. We turned it around flawlessly, on time and our client was very happy with our translation services.
