American Language Services goes High-Tech

This month American Language Services had the honor of working with two of the World Wide Web’s mega-brands: Twitter and Google.

You might think a company that’s famous for transmitting short, 140-character messages, or tweets, wouldn’t have a lot to say. But Twitter, the real-time information network giant, does ‘ and it needs to say it in a variety of languages.

Twitter was founded in San Francisco, but it’s used by people in nearly every country in the world. The service is available in more than 20 languages, and more continue to be added. With all those languages, Twitter developers needed a company with the resources and drive to get a number of jobs done quickly and accurately. They called on us because we are well known for our massive database of qualified translators and interpreters and for our high quality of operational and customer service. American Language Service immediately went to work to provide Twitter with a level of service and professionalism that exceeded their already lofty expectations. In September alone we provided translators and interpreters for Korean, Japanese, Spanish and German. But Twitter isn’t the only Silicon Valley heavyweight that uses our service.

Google, the search engine that’s so ubiquitous that the phrase ‘google it’ has entered the mainstream English lexicon, wants to be just as ubiquitous in other languages. Based in California, Google’s mission is to facilitate access to information for the entire world, and in every language. They’ve already got a good start. Today Google serves more than half of its results to people living outside the United States, and they already offer their search interface in more than 130 languages. In June we helped people ‘google it’ in Arabic, Spanish, Indonesian, Korean and Japanese.

With so many operational languages, Google turned to us. Just like Twitter, they needed a company with the resources and know-how to handle large and diverse interpretation and translation projects and who could deliver on its promise of both operational and customer service excellence.

We are proud of our ever-growing customer base in the high tech industry and look forward to serving the needs of organizations in this exciting and truly global industry. More and more, Google, Twitter, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle and others like them are choosing American Language Services because we speak their language.
