On-site interpreting requires the interpreter to be on-site for the assignment (meeting, presentation, event, etc.) in a physical setting. In some cases, interpreters will need equipment to interpret, like a set of headphones or headsets. Remote options like VRI and OPI are different. The interpreter does not need to appear physically in a particular location. A remote interpreting assignment can be done from anywhere with the correct equipment. In the case of VRI, a computer or any electronic that counts with a platform like Zoom or Google Meet permit individuals to connect at a particular time to carry on with the specific assignment. In the case of OPI, just a pre-scheduled phone call will work to receive the desired interpretation.
