Some Interesting Translation, Interpreting, & Media Projects Completed in June

July has been a very busy, and exciting, month for us! All of our departments worked hard and efficiently  to fulfill and deliver our customers’ requests on a timely and cost-effective basis.

The projects delivered by our Departamentul de traduceri were very interesting this month. For example, translating stress related informational documents into 14 languages including Russian, Hindi, Hmong, Farsi Armenian, Lao and Korean for a huge national organization that advocates laws and policies related to children. In addition, the number of translated documents were impressive, a 25,000- word study into Mongolian for a government consultant regarding international gender equality, a 35,000- word employee manual into Spanish for a large California restaurant chain and a large translation and desktop publishing of a complex 400,000- word law enforcement training course into Spanish for one of the nation’s largest universities.  Academically related, our team translated 175 individualized Education Plans of approximately 15 pages each, 600,000 words into Spanish for a school district with a very large Hispanic population. Our team also translated into Canadian French a large software localization project for one of the world’s largest developers and manufacturers of electrical equipment for the aerospace industry.

Last of all, but equally important, the Departamentul de interpretariat was outstanding and delivered with success a lot of significant projects, the team provided 3 on-site ASL interpreters for a major Las Vegas Hotel to assist deaf attendees at a two-day conference. An on-site French, Korean, Greek, and Brazilian Portuguese Provided 3 on-site ASL interpreters for a major Las Vegas Hotel to assist deaf attendees at a two-day conference.

We completed a project on-site for French, Korean, Greek, and Brazilian Portuguese interpreting for a student competition for a large online certification platform in Anaheim California. In addition, we provided on-site Romanian interpreting and full equipment for a two-day medical training course that took place in Romania.

Also, we provided 4 days of on-site Korean interpreting in Las Vegas for an Automotive Development Discussion for one of the field leaders in self driving vehicles In another project we Provided on site 3 ASL and 4 CART (Closed Captioning) providers for a one-day conference in New York City for AWS services.

Other examples include a project of 16 full interpreting booths, hundreds of headsets, and a 7-person technical team for a major 2-day, 8 language conference at the Boston Convention Center.  An on-site Certified Spanish interpreting for a 3-day trial in Baltimore for the USDOJ,  and  remote ASL interpreting services for numerous universities around the nation for meeting, students, classes , orientations and other school related events.

Mai mult decât atât Departamentul Media did some great jobs too.  Our team provided subtitling for 5 training videos into Spanish for a major U.S. university and a transcription from Farsi to English of 40,000 words for a major US university as well.

Luna iulie

Summer at its fullest, enjoying the sunny weather, making barbecues, eating tons of ice cream to calm down the heat, and leaving for vacations. Here’s to a month of freedom, independence and celebrations of country and culture! July is named after Roman dictator Julius Cesar (100. B.C. -44 B.C). Cesar developed the precursor to the Gregorian calendar we use today. This month holds so many special events and holidays, here’s a glimpse of some of these awesome celebrations. July 1 is Canada Day, a Canadian federal holiday that celebrates the creation of the Dominion of Canada in 1867, and of course, the emblematical 4 of July, Independence Day! On the fourth of July we celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Don’t forget to raise the flag! On July 14 the Bastille Day is also celebrated, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille and the start of the French Revolution, based on the principles of equality, fraternity, and liberty. Another interesting celebration is hold on July 29, that marks the Islamic New Year, which begins with the first sighting of the crescent Moon after the new Moon in the month of Muharram.

July is also known by its “just for fun” dates, like July 17, World Emojis Day, July 23 National Day of the Cowboy or July 27 Take your Houseplants for a Walk Day. Likewise, the weather is a very important factor, summer 2022 started off with warm to hot temperatures and isolated thunderstorms across most of the United States, except for cool and wet conditions over the Appalachians and Ohio Valley. But for the rest of the summer, the United States kept in record another season of high heat. The astronomic events were huge this month, as July 4 is the time of aphelion, when Earth is the farthest from the sun for the entire year, it was 94,509,598 miles away from our bright star!

Some historical events that took place in July are still relevant until this day, for example, in 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race in public accommodations publicly owned or operated facilities, employment and union membership and in voter registration. In 1790, the U.S. Patent Office first opened its doors with a patent issued to Samuel Hopkins of Vermont for a new method of making pearlash and potash. The patent was signed by George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

Some of the news of July 2022 were very touching and positive, the 26th The Agriculture Department and The Forest Service planed to plant about 1.2 billion trees over the next decade across the U.S. to counteract changes – mainly wildfires – that have resulted in the loss of forests. While there is still a lot more the administration and people in general could be doing to protect the environment, the reforestation plan is a step in the right direction. With the technology advances and science developments, this year July brought us the best space images so far, you don’t need to be a Space fanatic to appreciate the incredible images taken from telescopes, we’re living on the age of gold for space photos.
