Some Interesting Translation, Interpreting, & Media Projects Completed in November:

November was an excellent month for us. our teams did an outstanding job! It was a very busy as well, a month, full of a wide variety interpreting, translating and media projects, all handled as you would expect from a ISO Certified organization. Each of our teams worked really hard to achieve the results that our clients expect and deserve.

De Tolke ôfdieling outdid themselves delivering the most interesting and demanding projects in languages like Spanish, Japanese, French, Mandarin, etc. For example, they provided Cantonese interpretation for two days for one of the most recognized Property Management companies in the United States, helping them with a very important executive client.

We managed a large, complicated Conference for an NGO in Washington DC.   The event was centered around climate change, environmental issues, sustainability and opportunities.  We supplied interpreters for EU French Arabic, Spanish and Turkish languages along with supplying a substantial amount of onsite equipment and technical support.  We completed work for a weeklong product liability trial for a major Law Firm that works Nationwide. They work with businesses, litigation and in many industries.

Turkish and Vietnamese where two other languages that kept being highly requested this month, and our interpreting team provided an amazing service when it was needed. We helped a hotel chain providing these services for a numerous amounts of customers and also attending (on-site when needed and virtually if preferred) many meetings for expanding their business.

Us Oersetting ôfdieling kept up with the excellent work and outstanding deliveries, one of the most complex projects was translating an Education Series more than 21,537 words from English into many languages, including Simplified Chinese, Korean, Somali, Russian, Arabic, Tagalog, & Hindi. We translated from English into Spanish an Employee Benefit Guide document that helped a large food distributing company that works worldwide. The team also helped translate a 26,363-word legal documents from English into Korean for an important law firm.

Another interesting projects that we delivered this month was the transcription of a document from Norwegian/Icelandic into English for a Content developer company that produces dynamic original television and broadcast specials, while partnering with some of the world’s biggest companies to create brand-driven series and web content.

The Month of November

November is the eleventh and penultimate month of the year, consisting of 30 days, so be prepared for your last goodbyes to the year of 2022 and start preparing for receiving 2023! This is the month for unwinding and for finishing all that you’ve started in January, it is a month for closure and start prepping for new adventures, new opportunities, and new goals. Maybe, one of those goals is learning a new skill, so you can try learning a new language, we promise you it’ll be not only fun, but also very helpful!

November is best known for its important Holidays, like Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving, but it’s also packed with an abundance of special days of awareness and observances to celebrate. For example, November 2nd is the U.S. General Election Day (First Tuesday after first Monday), when senators and congressman are elected every two years, in even numbered years. The Tuesday after the first Monday in November was initially established in 1845 and it keeps like that ever since.

novimber 9th, where we celebrate the World Freedom Day, World Adoption Day, and a funny one, the Got to an Art Museum Day! See? It’s everything about exploring new things and to try something you might haven’t tried before.

We’ve also got great news and historical events that took place in November of this year related to the Language service community as legal recognition of East African Sign Language towards inclusion! A major step forward for all of us and a tremendous achievement to their community, bringing us all together a little bit more in the journey of ending language barriers.

November 22, 1984, Scarlett Johansson

Four-time Golden Globe nominated American actress is one of the most talented, versatile actresses in Hollywood. November 27, 1940, Bruce Lee

A film actor and instructor of the combat practices, he gained a worldwide status in a short span of life and soon became one of the most influential martial artists of all time. Born in an affluent family, Lee entered into the film industry long before he realized the fame he was to get.  He soon became a famous child actor. Acting and martial arts went hand in hand as he turned to a martial art instructor. However, it was his relocation to Hong Kong and association with films that elevated the popularity of both him as an actor and martial arts as a combat practice. His films created box office records, eventually changing the way martial arts and films related to it were looked upon by the world.

November 30, 1874, Winston Churchill

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. A multi-faceted man, he was also an officer in the British Army, a writer and a historian. As a young army man, he witnessed action in the Anglo–Sudan War and the Second Boer Warr.  He received much praise for his work as a war correspondent. Born as the son of a prominent politician hailing from an aristocratic family, he grew up to be a rebellious boy who hated formal education and did poorly in school.

He became the Prime Minister during a highly tumultuous period in history when the World War II was in full swing. He managed the political affairs with great tact and successfully led Britain as Prime Minister until victory over Nazi Germany had been secured. In recognition of all that he had done for the nation, he is widely counted amongst the most influential people in British history.

November 7, 1867, Marie Curie

World renowned Physicist & chemist, best known for pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a ‘Nobel Prize’ and the first female professor to serve at the ‘University of Paris.’ She is also the only woman to win the ‘Nobel Prize’ twice, and the only person to win the prestigious prize in two different scientific fields. A celebrated physicist and chemist, Marie Curie dedicated her life to research and discovery. Her significant discoveries have served as an inspiration for scientists all over the world. It was through her discoveries that the orthodox notion amongst the scientists was broken as they were exposed to a new line of thought on matter and energy. Curie is responsible for not just coining the term ‘radioactivity’ but theorizing the concept of radioactivity as well.

November 27, 1942, Jimi Hendrix

niversally considered as one of the greatest electric guitarists that the music world has ever witnessed. He composed music combining different genres of hard rock, jazz and blues into soulful unforgettable renditions. His style of music has been a source of inspiration for many budding musicians. He started his musical career by forming his first band The Jimmy Hendrix Experience where he played the guitar and also sang as the lead vocalist. His first single “Hey, Joe” took the world by storm. He made headlines after his iconic performance in 1969 in the Woodstock Festival and the Isle of Wight Festival in the 1970s. His second album was Axis: Bold as Love released in 1968 and his final album Electric Ladyland was also released in the same year.

November 10,1483, Martin Luther

German priest who was a major figure in the Protestant Reformation. A professor of theology and a former monk, he is credited to have started the Protestant Reformation in 16th-century Europe which changed the course of Western civilization. He not only rejected several teachings and practices of the Late Medieval Catholic Church, but also vehemently opposed the strong belief that freedom from God’s punishment for sin could be purchased with money.

Thus, he embarked on a life dedicated to religion and earned a Doctor of Theology degree. Initially a follower of Catholicism, he eventually recanted several of his beliefs and proceeded to reformulate some basic tenets of Christian belief that resulted in the division of Western Christendom into two factions: Roman Catholicism and the newly formed Protestant traditions. Pope Leo X and the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V were angered by Luther’s actions and asked him to retract all his wittings. He refused to do so and was excommunicated by the pope.

November 20, 1925, Robert F. Kennedy

He was the younger brother of the US President John F. Kennedy. He served as a senator for New York for three years and also served as the US Attorney General under his brother. He was a member of the Democratic Party and served as the campaign manager for his brother in the presidential election. Later, he was a leading candidate for the presidential nomination of the Democratic Party before his assassination. He practiced as an attorney in Washington D.C before joining politics. He fought against corruption in labor unions and wrote a book titled ‘The Enemy Within’, on corruption in the organized labor unions. He served as the White house advisor to his brother and participated in the African Americans civil rights movement and campaigned against the mafia.
